Elements Massage™ Grows Along with Demand for Pain and Stress Relief

Mar 27, 2014

U.S. Massage Franchise to Open 70 New Studios in 2014 to Keep Pace with Increasing Demand

Highlands Ranch, Colo. – With nearly half of Americans reporting their job as being “very or extremely stressful” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it’s no wonder that U.S. massage franchises are experiencing rapid growth in the $10 billion industry.

An example is 174-unit Elements Massage™, which averaged nearly one new studio opening per week in 2013 and saw a 41 percent increase in enterprise studio revenues from the previous year. The franchisor expects to exceed that opening pace in 2014 and plans to sign agreements for more than 100 new studios, including 20 franchise locations in Canada.

In fact, licensed therapists with Elements Massage™ provide more than 1 million massages annually. That number continues to grow as consumers increasingly choose massage to find relief from pain and stress or simply to relax.

“The top four massage franchises make up just 13 percent of the industry’s revenue, which means there’s substantial room for growth,” said Scott Wendrych, Chief Franchise Development Officer for Elements. “By opening 70 new studios in 2014 and continuing to sign new franchise agreements, we’re on track to meet the growing consumer demand.”

Elements stands out in the segment by remaining a specialist in massage-only services. Clients continue to appreciate that approach, as highlighted by the company’s industry-leading customer satisfaction. Elements has a net promoter score of 71, which is at least 20 points higher than any other retail massage chain and comparable to brands like Apple, Amazon and Marriott.

Recently named as one of Entrepreneur magazine’s fastest-growing franchises, Elements will target Philadelphia and Connecticut as top expansion hubs in 2014. For potential franchisees, the brand offers a lower investment and cost structure with a smaller footprint and lower build-out costs than competitors in the massage retail space. The business model allows franchise owners to focus on building revenues and additional locations while their studio managers handle day-to-day operations. The investment required to open a single Elements Massage™ franchise ranges from $248,800 to $446,400.
