Regular Massage Therapy, A Luxury or a Necessity?

Elements Massage Highpointe Dec 31, 2013

We often have friends, visitors, and clients come to us feeling slightly guilty about “indulging themselves” in a massage session here and there. This seems to be a fairly common sentiment especially in our Western culture that sometimes promotes traditional medicine over the power of more holistic approaches. Well we are here to tell you that proactively taking care of your mind and body through regular or even periodic massage treatments are not an indulgence at all. Quite the contrary, we believe that massage is and should be a regular option for keeping up general health and should never be thought of as a “guilty pleasure”.

But getting regular massages would be expensive right?!?!?! Well that depends on how you look at it. First of all, regular massage therapy has been shown to have a wide range of benefits including an increase in immune function and the ability to actually heal damaged muscle on a cellular level. That translates into fewer doctor visits, fewer days missed at work, and therefore more overall savings in your general health care costs. At Elements Massage Highpointe, we are also interested in helping keep the cost of regular massage treatments as low as we can through our Wellness Program. The Wellness Program is a monthly membership that gives you access to a set number of weekly sessions at savings of least $30 on each massage. We are also offering an introductory 55-minute massage for only $59. It’s kind of like that quote from Field of Dreams, “If you build it, they will come.” We believe that if you try it, you will not want to stop coming back.

As we approach the end of 2013 and you begin putting together New Year’s resolutions, consider switching out one of your actual “guilty pleasures” for a massage treatment. Maybe that means not joining the rest of the office at happy hour every Friday, choosing to cook at home instead of eating out, or giving up an unhealthy habit like smoking or drinking soda and other sugary treats. You could even start a little fund that you deposit money into every time you choose to pass up paying for a potentially unhealthy meal or activity. What makes this an ideal arrangement is that massage therapy can actually help you achieve the calm and focus it takes to see those resolutions through.

Even when finances are tight, your health and wellness are paramount. Your ability to be productive and bring home resources for your family is directly tied to your ability to function at your best physical and mental potential everyday. When you look at it in that light, a massage here and there is hardly a luxury and more of an investment in a healthy future.
