Red, white and blue - colors that make up the American flag. Red signifies valor and power; white depicts innocence and purity; and blue, the color of the sky and the sea, signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice.
The American flag represents eternal principles and values: liberty, justice and humanity. It is the icon for American freedom: freedom of speech, religion, assembly, the press, and the sanctity of the home. During peaceful times, when the flag is flown, it is a constant reminder of freedom. And during times of distress and turmoil, such as 9/11, the flag flown high unified the country, and reminded people that the country will go on.
We owe respect and reverence to the American flag. It is a great source of pride for Americans. It represents the highest of ideals: LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
