National Stress Awareness Month

Apr 10, 2017

The best way to reset our bodies in the springtime is by reducing stress and built-up tension from the cold temperatures and craziness of the winter holidays. There are numerous ways to reduce stress, and massage is most definitely one of them. Rewarding yourself with a massage is a relaxing and enjoyable way to reduce stress, specifically if you choose a Hot Stone or Integrative Reflexology treatment. This month is National Stress Awareness Month, so we encourage you to take note of your stress levels, and consider treating yourself to a massage if stress is taking a toll on your life.

We also want to educate you on the two types of massages that are most effective in reducing stress:

A hot stone massage has many benefits including melting away tension, easing stiffness, and increasing both metabolism and circulation throughout the body. Hot stone massage therapy facilitates this muscle relaxation through smooth, hot stones placed on tense nodes of the body. The heat from the stones relaxes muscles as they sink into the body absorb the tension. The stones expand blood vessels, which increases blood flow, relieves pain, and reduces stress as well.

Integrative reflexology therapy is a form of massage that integrates the skin with the nervous system, designed specifically for reducing stress. Integrative reflexology massages use the therapist’s whole hand to perform the treatment and typically are performed on the hands and feet. The massage works with the fingers and toes as energy sources and reduces tension and stress in these commonly overworked nodes of our bodies. Adults with a stressful lifestyle benefit from the deep relaxation and deep breathing effects of reflexology. Stress is the number one reason people receive an Integrative Reflexology session.

In addition to hot stone massages and integrative reflexology, all types of massages relax the body, reduce pain and tension, and will leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed for spring. Studies have shown that massages boost mood as well, which can be helpful in combatting the stress in our lives, as well as setting us up with a sunny disposition during this Stress Awareness Month!
