Fear of the boogey man, monsters, ghouls, creepy crawlies, and anything spooky is common, as many people do have aversions to scary looking creatures. These fears are acceptable and at times, laughable. The entertainment industry has created an abundance of movies and publications to humor us with various characters, scenarios and thrillers. An entire day has been devoted to allowing kids and adults to become a fantasy character for a day!
However, a different type of fear, the type which keeps us from being able to do certain activities, based on a fear of what the outcome may be, can be harmful. If constant fear is allowed to control thoughts and, dictate actions, it may lead to an unfulfilling life, and one of unrealized potential. Fear inhibits growth of fresh thoughts, new ideas, and risk taking. It's much easier to stay in the same comfortable place, where the outcome will be the same, day in and out, a place which doesn't encourage us to advance our thinking.
Certain risks should not be taken, such as those related to causing harm to ourselves or others. However, opportunities to reach higher, through stretching ourselves and thinking outside of our boxes, should be assessed, and taken. Never let fear of what may or may not happen, and overthinking, get in the way of advancement. And, never let others' fears hold you back from what you want to do. Live life abundantly and fearlessly.
