Massage Therapy has opened the door for me to have great interactions with people and see the amazing ways that the human body adapts, processes, and heals. My passion for anatomy and working with people can come together with Massage Therapy.
Trigger Point, Myofascial, Neuromuscular, Migraines, Depression, Geriatric
I had a recurring geriatric client with constant pain down the left leg. This client needed to receive gentle work, so we did a blend of myofascial release and light Swedish, though it took a couple of sessions for us to find the most effective treatment for him. By the end of seven sessions together, this client no longer felt the recurring leg pain that he had first come to me with. I felt proud and honored that I was able to help this client regain mobility and pain-free exercise.
WHAT MAKES YOUR MASSAGES UNIQUE?
I begin each massage by having the client take a deep breath, having them settle into their bodies. I remind the client this space is for them, and at any point during the session we can alter pressure, location, positioning or end the massage. The entire session is focused on the clients wants and needs, as I’m here to support them with what they come to me with. I’m an active listener and keep an open line of communication throughout the massage. I often use a blend of different modalities, creating a peaceful flow through the massage.
WHAT DO YOU MOST APPRECIATE WHEN RECEIVING MASSAGE?
Massage always brings me back into my body. I enjoy being able to relax knowing that my body is in safe hands, with a practitioner truly passionate about their work. I also love being given knowledge as the massage is performed, where I am constantly learning more about my own body and areas where I’m holding tension. I’m able to take this knowledge into everyday life with me, and overall better the quality of my life.
WHAT KEEPS YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT MASSAGE?
Massage and self care isn’t something you get tired of or forget about. It's a never ending journey of healing. Knowing that I get to perform massages on others, relieve their pain and help them reconnect back to their bodies fulfills me. I feel honored that I am able to help people feel better and come back to themselves.
