SUMMARY
“My decision to pursue massage therapy as a career is driven by an interest and instinct to care for, and protect the health, safety and well-being of myself and others, in my personal life and in my community. I find it personally gratifying to work with people and offer my service and expertise on the body and its functions in a way that helps others to recognize and understand what our expectations of healthy anatomy should be, where they are at and what we can do together and individually to reconcile any differences we encounter.
My preference is in deep work, effectively using an integrated technique that employs a blend of modalities. I am passionate about deep tissue massage and take pride in my ability to ease the discomfort of repetitive motion injuries. I also enjoy that people constantly provide me with learning opportunities to expand upon my knowledge base, enabling me to confidently address a wider variety of issues the longer I engage in therapeutic practices. I find it very personally gratifying to help others improve the quality of their lives and have high expectations for my work and education, aiming always to address both initial and long-term goals.”
EXPERIENCED WITH
Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Myofascial Release, Repetitive Motion Strain, Sciatica, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Trigger Point Therapy, and Post Isometric relaxation.
SUCCESS STORIES
“I've taken much pride out of long-standing therapeutic relationships where initially a client may have had a severe limitation to their range of motion due to an accident or a surgery, and after having only worked together for a year, the client was able to resume life functioning independently. Where before they may not have been able to put on their own shoes or manage daily chores, after providing several treatment sessions and encouraging self-maintenance on a steady basis, clients are able to reclaim a degree of functionality comparable to their condition before the issue that motivated them to seek out care.”
WHAT MAKES YOUR MASSAGES UNIQUE?
“Something about my personality encourages an easy quiet confidence in me as a care provider. My favorite teacher used to tell me that I engender trust and that it was an inherent quality I have in my interactions with people. I find it pretty easy to filter subjective information and arrive at a likely and practical assessment of the precise physical origin and nature of a given discomfort.
I naturally engage as an active listener, so I don't even need to modify my behavior with clients when probing for information, I simply ask questions where I feel the need and capture the relevant information that helps me to form a more complete image of a clients’ activities, habits, and behaviors as they apply to my inquiries. Intuition plays a large part there and I trust my intuition whole heartedly. I am confident in my ability to read and navigate nonverbal communication.”
WHAT DO YOU MOST APPRECIATE WHEN RECEIVING MASSAGE?
“Communication, focus, consideration, education, pressure and creativity in that order. I also appreciate it when I can sense a therapist's passion for the work.”
WHAT KEEPS YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT MASSAGE?
“I love helping people (generally but also) in a way that is direct, tangible, quantifiable, methodical, and beneficial even at times where we miss the mark on the client's expectations. I love that I have the opportunity to make my living doing good by my standards and helping others in a multifaceted way. I get to take genuine pride in improving the quality of other people’s lives.”
