Austin received his massage education at Everest Institute: School of Massage, in Tigard. There he gained much of his essential massage training as well as continued education in Neuromuscular Techniques (NMT), Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Whiplash Injuries, and Thai Massage on the Table. He is currently working towards his BA in Exercise and Sports Science at OSU to create a deeper understanding of the strain athletes undergo during rigorous cross training. His end goal is to continue his talents for healing as a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) with an education from NCNM here in Portland to assist all walks of life in reaching their maximum holistic potential. Austin’s philosophy on healing is, “Massage can be thought of as a muscular intervention. After thorough assessment and an effective treatment, my duty is to inform of the condition of soft tissue, question how it might have arrived at this point, and recommend steps to achieve homeostasis.”
Austin has spent most of his life enjoying board sports, hiking, camping, and cycling in the Pacific Northwest. His inspiration to become a healer came from job site injury rehabilitation of coworkers and himself while working as a carpenter for a general contractor. His thoughts were, “I’d rather be healing those that get injured than continue to injure myself.”
Austin’s Massage Modalities: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Neuromuscular Technique, Trigger Point Release, Sports Massage, and Thai Massage on the Table.
