Steven | Lead Massage Therapist
Aside from a two-year stint in the bay area, during which he attended National Holistic Institute College of Massage Therapy, Steven has been calling Portland home since 2001. During that time Steven has worked in the service industry, played music with several local groups, and earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and Spanish from Portland State University. Steven is currently pursuing certification (CAMT-1) in the Advanced Myofascial Trainings curriculum.
As an experienced manual therapist Steven understands that each bodywork session is unique and requires a customized approach. Drawing from a variety of modalities, including Myofascial Release, Trigger Point therapy, Neuromuscular (NMT), Structural Integration, Deep Tissue, and Swedish, he works with each client to develop a personalized treatment to suit their individual needs.
Steven’s philosophy on healing is that our bodies are intelligent and know what they need. They also often carry the heavy physical manifestations of mental and emotional stress and trauma. He looks at healing with fascination and wonder, always approaching bodywork from a place of intuition and curiosity in order to listen to and uncover the mysteries that bodies can hold. Steven approaches each session by meeting the client's body where it is, with the intention of guiding the client toward increased options for movement, improved wellness, refined body awareness, and greater trust in their body’s own deeper wisdom.
