Val | Licensed Massage Therapist
Val studied at massage therapy at Mckinnon Body Therapy Center and East West College of Healing Arts, and animal science at CSU Chico. Her favorite massage modalities include shiatsu, pregnancy (prenatal/postpartum) and Neuromuscular Therapy.
Her philosophy on healing is “that we are all born with tremendous capacity for healing, that it can take many forms and is not subject to time or any specific treatment. As massage therapists, we are able to directly influence body systems and energy channels through touch. One of the most powerful ways we can do this is by bringing the body into a parasympathetic state (relaxation response). This gives those systems a space to rest, allowing our innate healing abilities to take over - emotionally, physically or spiritually/energetically.”
Val was raised in rural northern California before moving to the Bay Area (CA), and now lives in Vancouver, WA. She has visited Mexico, Canada, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and several states in the U.S. Her dream vacation would be any type of exploration of another country/culture, especially in mountainous or regions or near the sea.
Before she found massage therapy she was a ranch hand, surgery scheduler, caregiver for children with developmental and/or physical disabilities, and a chiropractic assistant. She started her career in massage working with horses.
