In accordance with the new restrictions effective Tuesday, November 17, we remain open on our normal schedule.  No changes were made to our industry as massage therapy has not been shown to be a vector for spreading the virus.

We continue to follow our careful protocols.  We thank our clients for wearing masks at all times in our studio, and look forward to helping you manage stress and pain, the Elements Way.

How You Can Delay the Onset of Dementia

How You Can Delay the Onset of Dementia

Mackenzie Barrow

Dementia is a condition that affects 50 million people worldwide. It is a major cause of disability and dependency among older people that can deeply impact the lives of those who suffer from it, their family, and their caregivers. Research has found some methods that may delay or slow the onset and progression of the disease. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends:

  • Regular physical exercise
  • Not using tobacco
  • Drinking less alcohol
  • Maintaining healthy blood pressure
  • Eating a healthy diet -- particularly a Mediterranean one

WHO also recommended proper management of weight, hypertension, diabetes and unhealthy or unbalanced cholesterol levels. They warned against using supplements such as B vitamins, antioxidants, omega-3 and ginkgo unless they are needed for a clinical problem.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is always the best defense against a myriad of conditions. When in doubt always consult your doctor for professional recommendations on lowering your risk of developing dementia or other diseases.
