4 Tips for To Start The Day Off Healthy and Positive

Dec 10, 2017

Everyday is a chance to start a brand new day, and a brand new life. Healthy, positive people tend to have morning routines and rituals to help them start the day off on the right foot. There are many different things you can do every morning to leave you feeling fantastic. Here are a few of my favorites:

  1. Drinking Warm Lemon Water Upon Rising

Drinking warm lemon water upon rising is a great way to start off your day healthy, and positive. Lemons are rich in Vitamin C, Calcium, Potassium, and Pectin fibre. The vitamin C helps your immune system to stay strong, protecting against colds and flus. The Pectin fibre helps the body to flush out toxins from the digestive tract. The potassium in lemon water helps nourish the brain and nerve cells. Those are just a few of the amazing benefits of drinking warm lemon water in the morning. It also has a positive effect on the nervous system, liver, skin, weight loss and helps maintain pH levels in the body. When you start the day off with a glass of warm lemon water, you are starting the day off healthy and positive.

  1. Write Down Three Things You Are Grateful For

Now that you have your warm lemon water by your side, get out a piece of paper and a pen and write down three things your grateful for. No matter how big or how small just write them down. Try to imagine feeling gratitude in your heart. Gratitude is a great first step in become present in the moment. According to Psychology Today, "studies have shown that practicing gratitude had positive effects on both anxiety and depression" (https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/prefrontal-nudity/201211/the-grateful-brain). Start the day off grateful, and see how much gratitude can turn what you have into enough.

  1. Exercise

Exercising daily has numerous health benefits, it is important to stay physically active in order to be healthy. Be sure to carve out some time in your morning routine to exercise for at least 30 minutes. Exercising regularly can help you feel happier. It helps to change the areas in our brains that regulate stress and anxiety. It also increases the "good feel" hormones, serotonin and norepinephrine, to help relieve feelings of depression. However, mood isn't the only reason to carve time out of your morning for exercise. Exercise also increases energy levels, helps improve brain health and memory, promotes relaxation and deep sleep, reduces pain especially chronic low back pain and fibromyalgia, and it can even promote a better sex life. Exercise everyday to keep your brain, your mood, and your body started off positive and healthy.

  1. Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Haven't you ever heard it's the most important meal of the day? Eating breakfast is an important part of a morning ritual. It helps to balance blood sugar to help the body and brain feel energized and awake. It is even suggested that eating breakfast may have beneficial effects on maintaining a healthy weight. When you fail to eat in the morning it stimulates unhealthy cravings for sugar and unhealthy fats. Be sure to eat a healthy breakfast, and avoid the donuts.
