Ask a Therapist!! Massage as preventative care
Heather May 4, 2013
Many massage therapists will tell you that massage works best when used as preventative care but what exactly does that mean?
Therapeutic massage works on the soft tissues of the body in order to help the body heal. It does this by returning blood and lymph to all cells of the muscle and by various techniques to remind the muscle to relax. However, massage is most effective at keeping the damage from occurring in the first place by keeping the tissue limber and healthy. Massage makes the body less prone to injury in the first place.
Massage also teaches you to listen to your body, so you can recognize the aches before they become pains. Then you can focus your care where you need it most! You don't have to experience the pain stages at all!
Regular massages will keep you at tip top shape for years to come.
