Regular readers of our blog know that the evidence from research about the benefits fo regular massage continues to grow month by month. A recent study published in medical journal covering treatments that provide supportive care to patients with cancer found that twice weekly massage for 4 weeks dramatically reduced signs of illness-related distress to levels associated with not being ill. The reduction showed immediately and increased as the total number of massages increased suggesting the effect of regular massage was cumulative. Interestingly, signs of distress started to increase again when massage was discontinued. Read the article here.
