Hot, Hot Heat and Hydration

Elements Massage Red Mountain

We know. It’s hot. And it’ll continue to be hot until... well, we’ve got a bit to go. It’s late summer which means everyone is pretty tired of the heat. Here at Elements Massage Red Mountain, we are with you. What we like to do is make the heat a sort of challenge. There’s nothing you can do about the lingering temperatures so why not turn your attention to something you can control, like yourself?

To combat the heat and the accompanying dehydration that occurs, it is important to take mindful steps to drink enough fluid on a daily basis. Since 70 percent of the human body is made up of water, it is imperative to stay well-hydrated to avoid conditions like migraines, hypertension, angina, rheumatoid arthritis and more.

To live longer and healthier, we recommend drinking a minimum of eight to ten glasses of water a day. This equals out to about 64 fluid ounces. If you find yourself achieving this without much effort, up the ounce count to approximately half of your body weight in ounces.

Benefits of drinking enough water include:

  • Enhances your metabolism to absorb more nutrients
  • Alleviates heartburn and indigestion
  • Improves skin condition and complexion
  • Promotes shiny and healthy hair
  • Prevents kidney stones and bladder infections
  • Assists in daily bowel movements
  • Reinforces weight loss
  • Strengthens the immune system

Last but not least, staying well-hydrated is the key to a good massage. Keeping your body hydrated enables your muscles to stay pliable to receive a great massage and can assist in flushing toxins and waste out of your muscles to help you feel your best. Cheers!
