A Chicago native, Mary strongly believes that massage is not a luxury, but a necessity in order to live a long, healthy life. She lives by this creed, receiving massage 3-4 times a month. Graduating from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy (CSMT) in 1993, Mary has been a massage therapist for 22 years as well as a member of both AMTA and NCBTMB. Mary believes that everyone has the ability to heal themselves, and sees herself not as a healer, but as a conduit for self healing. She says, "If I can convey a sense of comfort , peace, and safety by using empathy and compassion as I work, then the client will be able to relax their mind, as well as their body, which will then allow them to heal not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well." "My goal is not only to relieve the stress and strain of the body, but also to help my clients reconnect with themselves on a deeper level and feel whole again once they come off my table." She enjoys using all the modalities she has learned over the years, including Swedish, deep tissue and Myofascial release, among others. She also takes great pleasure in providing comfort and stress relief to pregnant women, as they carry the future of the world within. She believes all forms of modalities have great value for the body, mind, and spririt. In her own life, Mary stays healthy and relaxed with yoga, Tai Chi, hiking, art, and her spiritual practice. She has visited many national parks in the US and Canada, citing Sequoia National Park as her favorite. Like many of us, she dreams of a tropical vacation, wishing to visit Hawaii, Tahiti, and Seychelles.
