With the holiday season upon us, it’s important to stay healthy to participate in all of the fun. Why not get a bit of a headstart on next year’s resolutions and head into the merry season looking and feeling your best. To immediately improve your health today, we recommend the following:
Start with Water
Before you hit up your coffee for the day, take a moment to drink one large glass of water. Even better if you add lemon to it. By starting your day off hydrating, before your coffee, you’ll feel better. Don’t forget to drink more water throughout the day to keep your energy levels up, your skin clear, and your mind able to focus.
15 minutes of sunshine a day keeps the doctor away. It’s just old adage but there is truth to the matter. Particularly in winter months, where we experience darkness before work and after, it’s important to pop outside midday for a brief soak of sun if possible.
Eat Fresh Foods
This time of year can be a struggle to make good food decisions with all of the treats, cookies and baked goods making their circulation. We aren’t telling you to say no to everything but simply to eat fresh foods daily. Not only are they good for you but they help you feel good. Plus, if you get in the habit of eating fresh foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and so on, you’ll enjoy that cookie just a titch more!
Go to Bed
Changing your regular habits requires hard work and one of the toughest areas (aside from diet) for people to make changes in, is going to bed. We set an alarm to wake up in the morning but just go to bed all willy nilly. Instead, make a change and prioritize good sleep. Declutter your bedroom, keep screens out of it - that means no computers, tablets, or phones. Drink plenty of water and go to bed at the same time every night. Start now!
