Did you know: Research supported by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) Swedish massage for those with osteoarthritis of the knee significantly reduced their pain.
Recommended Frequency: Sixty minute sessions once a week
Research Protocol: This is an extensive study on a total of 125 subjects with 25 subjects receiving the 1 hr massage over 8 weeks and others receiving infrequent massage or less massage. Each massage therapy session followed a specific protocol, including observation of the nature of massage strokes.
