Stress is just a part of life today and although it might not seem like it, not all stress is bad. When the mind and body experience stress, the body reacts to help you confront challenges. For example, when confronted with an unexpected obstacle, your stress level rises which in turn can instigate your alertness levels via adrenaline. This actually can help you troubleshoot the problem and find the solution quicker.
The main issue with stress is when you face chronically high stress levels. This sustained exposure has consequences on your emotional and physical self. Several examples of how stress can manifest includes:
- Quicker to irritate
- Prone to excess anxiety
- Easily depressed
- Lacking motivation
- Reports of exhaustion and fatigue
- Insomnia or other sleep-related issues
- Inability to concentrate
- Muscle aches and pains
- Withdrawal from social life
- Lack of healthy eating
To manage stress, it is important to find a healthy way to navigate it. At Elements Massage Central Scottsdale, we encourage our clients to drink plenty of water, schedule breaks throughout the day to get exercise, take walks or soak in the sunshine. We also recommend identifying a few self care items that help boost your sense of well-being. For us, those include regular massage sessions, a great meal with a close friend, yoga, meditation or some other calming activity.
Stress is inevitable but you don’t have to let it get you down! We’re here to help!
