Different Types of Massage offered at Elements Massage of Brentwood

Emily Allison

At Elements Massage, it’s extremely important to us that each and every person that walks through our doors receives the highest quality massage—and the massage that best meets their specific preferences and needs. We offer a variety of different types of massages at different levels of pressure, and we always take each person through the process to determine which is best for them. Some folks come in thinking they want a sports massage, when really what they’re looking for is a Swedish massage—or vice versa! Our types of massages can be mixed, matched, and combined to help every person feel their best and get the most benefit out of their massage.

Our levels of pressure are as follows:

Level 1: gives a light and relaxing massage

Level 2: gives a medium pressure massage with no specific trigger point (commonly called knots) treatment

Level 3: gives a medium to deep pressure massage including some trigger point work

Level 4: very deep massage including trigger point (knots) work

Our six basic types of massages each utilize one or more of these pressure types, and can be combined to maximize comfort and effectiveness. The six types of massages we offer are:

  1. Swedish
  2. Hot stone
  3. Deep tissue
  4. Trigger point
  5. Prenatal
  6. Sports

Swedish massage is the traditional massage that people think of—it’s not too deep, not too pressured, and is carefully crafted for relaxation. Most people can benefit from a Swedish massage, and the pressure can be adjusted to suit your preferences.

Hot stone massage is a slightly deeper, more involved massage that includes the use of—you guessed it—hot stones to provide soothing warmth and relaxation. The palm-sized heated stones are used as tools in the massage process to get a deeper, firmer massage than might otherwise be possible, and allow for maximum relaxation of the muscles.

Deep tissue massage is essentially the same massage as Swedish, but deeper, firmer and more intentional in its goal. If pressure is not something you enjoy, then a deep tissue massage is probably not for you. The Deep tissue massage can be very relaxing because it works sore muscles and toxin buildup that lighter massages may not reach.

Trigger point massage is a deep tissue massage with focus on specific knots, problem areas, or “trigger points”that may be causing unnecessary pain, discomfort or inconvenience. It is not for the faint of heart, but can be a very effective method of softening knots and buildups, especially if you have had aches and pains for a long time.

At Elements Massage, we have an array of talented massage therapists who specialize in each of these disciplines, often in several, and we will match you with them to help you have the best massage experience possible. The massages can also be combined, so do not feel like you have to choose just one!

Our team is passionate, not just about helping people relax, but also about educating people about health and their bodies so they can invest in their well-being and be happy, healthy and whole for the rest of their lives!
