It is our pleasure to announce that the Franchise of the Month is Bown Crossing in Boise, ID!

When did you take it over?

July 1, 2009

What have you done to turn the business around?

The first thing we did was to analyze where our opportunities were within the existing business and form a solid plan for growth. The greatest opportunity we had was with our staff. We then reengaged our existing staff and shared the vision of our business moving forward. We also made sure that our front desk staff (client coordinators) presented the proper representation for the quality product we are selling. We then began a very selective process of adding therapists to our staff. Only recently have we been able to truly say that we are able to staff our schedule for optimal growth.

Our plan for growth is centered on building our Wellness Program members consistently from month to month. Since the studio had minimal presence within the community and networking was nonexistent, we have had a focused effort on improving in these items so that we are recognized as the "massage studio" of choice in our area. Another area of focus for us has been to commit to weekly management meetings to make sure that we are productive each and every week, rather than getting caught up in the day to day activities of the business.

How many clients do you seen, on average, in a week?

100-110 per week

What would you consider are your reasons for success?

Without a doubt the foundation of our success is our staff including everyone from our great manager, to our amazing client coordinators, and our highly skilled therapists. We truly believe that we have an outstanding product that makes a difference in people's lives. It is easy to represent a product and business that you can stand behind, and with a quality staff that is easy.

We also set specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time oriented goals and update them weekly to make sure we are focused on the bigger picture. If you don't know where you are going, it is pretty difficult to get there.

What is your favorite part of being an elements owner?

What could be better than seeing a half asleep client with sheet marks all over their face- grinning from ear to ear?

What’s your advice to other owners on building their business?

Build a great team. Create a strong plan. Set and revisit goals often. Pay attention to the operational AND financial sides of the business, without compromising either one. Realize that they are synergistic and paying too much attention to one or the other can impact your business adversely. Don't recreate the wheel, use the resources that you have with
