Frequency of Massages – A Guide For Everyone

Frequency of Massages – A Guide For Everyone

For anyone who has had a massage, we could all certainly agree that the post-massage feeling is wonderful. Our clients often find themselves saying: “I can’t wait to get another massage!” But when should you book an appointment for another massage? How soon is too soon? Is more frequent better for your body?

We have put together some recommendations on how frequently you should receive a massage but keep in mind that everyone is different. If you have certain medical conditions or are recovering from an injury you should always follow your doctor’s recommendations on what is right for you.

Monthly Massages Are Best

If you are a healthy person looking to reduce stress, soothe tight muscles or just want to give yourself an hour of pampering, we would recommend a monthly massage. Monthly massages can have excellent health benefits and can help reduce everyday stress.

Massages To Battle High Stress Life

For people who have high stress jobs that require a lot of traveling or are physically demanding a monthly massage may not be enough to maintain that Zen like state after a wonderful massage. If you find yourself in this category you may see more benefits from a bi-weekly or even weekly massage.

Pregnant Women and Massages

During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through very dramatic physical and hormonal changes. All of these can changes can create tense muscles, sore joints, anxiety, headaches and more. Prenatal massages can help to steady moods, relieve soreness and help with circulation.  We recommend more frequent massages during pregnancy as long as your doctor approves.

Massages While Recovering From Injury

If you have recently been injured and are looking to add massages as part of your recovery plan, you will approach massage appointments slightly different. Again this depends on what your doctor/physical therapist recommends but usually we suggest very frequent massages in the beginning and then as you recover and gain strength, you would taper off.
