1 large bag of Turkey Meatballs. We use the ones from Costco. We have tried the beef meatballs from Costco and they are too greasy.
4 cups ketchup
4 Tablespoons liquid smoke
1 cup onion flakes
4 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Crushed red pepper to taste. Just remember that a little goes a long way
If you are going to use a large crockpot, then double all the above ingredients.
1. Cook the meatballs in 350 oven for 30 minutes as directed on the package.
2. In a large pot, combine all other ingredients. Stir until mixed thoroughly. Bring to slow boil then continue heating on low for about 15 minutes. The time is not that critical so use your best judgment. Stir periodically to prevent burning. Best to keep covered between stirs since it can be messy on the stove as it bubbles.
3. Layer the meatballs and sauce in a crockpot. Since it is already fully cooked, this is just to keep it hot. I usually start on high for about an hour then turn to low/warm as needed.
