What to expect when booking and receiving your massage at Elements Massage of Morris Plains
Blaire T, LMT Mar 2, 2014
At Elements of Morris Plains, it is our goal to provide the industry's best therapeutic massage in a professional and inviting environment, where our clients can experience the Elements difference.
When calling and booking your appointment, our skilled front desk staff will match you to the therapist that best suits your needs. Letting the front desk staff know what type of pressure, areas that need more focus on and types of massage you like will help match the best therapist to you. We are open 7 days a week, and can often book your appointment the same day you call.
If you are a new client, you will be asked to come in 15 minutes prior to your session time to fill out our paperwork. Please make sure to fill out all areas of the paperwork, any medical conditions, or medications, even vitamins you may take. All this helps the licensed therapist give you the massage your body needs, and can receive. For example, it is not advised to receive hot stone massage if you have high blood pressure that is not being treated with proper medication.
Once checked in, you should use the restroom if needed, so you can fully relax during your massage! You will be introduced to your licensed massage therapist by a front desk associate. Before entering the massage room area, please turn off cell phones so it does not disturb you or any other clients that may be in a session. Once in a therapy room, the therapist will ask what areas you want focused on and the type of pressure/massage modality. The therapist will explain how he/she will start the session, and go over any questions you may have. Make sure to take off any jewelry you have on and place it in the glass container on the table. Dress down to your comfort level and lay underneath the fresh linens, you will always be properly draped during your therapy session. You can hang up your clothes on the hooks, or on the chair. Hair ties are available in the room if needed.
During the session, the therapist will let you know that the pressure, table heat, music level, and lighting are all adjustable to your comfort. Do not hesitate at any time to let your therapist know if the pressure is too much or not enough. We want to make your massage exactly that, YOUR massage. If there are any areas you want more attention to, please let your therapist know at any time. The therapist will check in with you throughout the massage to make sure you are comfortable. If you feel you need extra therapy time, you may be able to extend your session - just ask the therapist if she/he can accommodate your request.
Some massage therapists use hot towels or hot packs to help relax the area and to get deeper into the muscle. You may request this specifically if you'd like (on the house!). Some therapist use a natural menthol topical analgesic to help with the sore areas you may have still after the session, depending on type of massage used. The therapist will use this gel, to cool down the muscle. Again, you may request this specifically if you'd like (on the house!).
Once the massage therapy session has ended, you will be asked to slowly get up off the table, and redress after the therapist leaves the room. Once dressed, just crack the door open a little and the therapist will re-enter, and give you a bottle of water and our special chocolate! It is very important to drink water after every session to cleanse the body of toxins released from the muscles. The therapist will explain what he/she found during the massage, and give you their recommendation for future appointments.
Once at the front desk for check out, any questions you may have you can always ask our front desk staff. The front desk associates will explain our Wellness Program to you. You may chose to sign up at any time! Our program provides month to month savings, access to member only specials, and you can share your massage sessions with an associate member (again, no added fees!). As most of us know, it is very beneficial to receive massage on a regular basis to help with pain, depression, anxiety, and injuries. These are just some of the benefits of becoming a member at Elements Massage of Morris Plains.
Don't forget to check out our website and Facebook page on a regular basis for any specials we may be having!
