Matt is a Level 4.
Matt studied Massage Therapy at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH. Graduated in 2020. He is originally from Mechanicsburg, but moved to Ohio right after college. He spent 15 years there in total, and recently moved back into the area and is in school at Central Penn to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
In Ohio, Matt worked as the area director for a non profit ministry called Young Life and then for a church as their youth and families pastor. He also coached Cross Country, Track and Field, and Soccer at a local high school. He took a break from that for 4 years, went back to school, and started his own Sports Massage Therapy business. During that time, he worked closely with firefighters and law enforcement, bodybuilders and crossfitters, cyclists and ultra runners, all kinds of high school and college athletes, and one very fast Olympian.
Matt specializes in sports and deep tissue massage therapy and loves working with athletes. His certifications include RockTape cupping, blading (which is RockTape's version of graston), and KT taping. He is also certified in ART (Active Release) Level 1, Reflexive Performance Reset (also known as RPR), and myofascial stretch therapy. Whether you're an athlete recovering from an injury or an adventure enthusiast wanting to make sure your body is exactly where you want it to be for your next big trip, Matt can help.
Matt is very thorough and believes that part of the recovery process for anyone is understanding not only what the problem is, but why the problem happened in the first place, and what it looks like to start correcting the issues behind the why and building a healthier happier you. A session with Matt will be more engaging and educational than relaxing. The techniques he uses require movements that can make draping impractical, so we are asking clients scheduled with him to bring a pair of loose fitting shorts and a t-shirt or tank top to your session.
As a former D1 athlete and a long time coach, he knows that injuries are a part of life. And while they are incredibly frustrating, they can also provide us with opportunities to educate ourselves. The human body is an amazing machine. Injuries allow us to pause and appreciate what we've been given. Don't let your injury be wasted time.
