What do you like most about massage? As a person who has worked in the field of human health and kinetics, my appreciation and love for natural healthcare and wellness has been the foundation of my massage therapy career. Helping people move past or manage their acute and chronic pain has been an overwhelming theme through my work; seeking to help client’s experience a body in which they are comfortable and able to perform optimally is what I find very vocationally rewarding.
What are your favorite modalities / specialties? Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Structural Bodywork, Tui Na
Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective? Swedish massage is an appropriate modality for individuals seeking relaxation or therapeutic massage. Deep tissue massage and structural bodywork is working the different muscle layers in the body and learning how to work with the tissue to relax, lengthen, and release holding patterns. Moreover, deep tissue and structural bodywork requires more communication between the therapist and client during the massage to make it safe and effective. Sports massage and Tui Na are usually performed with the individual clothed, which allows for greater joint mobilization and stretching without the hassle of draping.
Anything special you'd like to share about yourself? I enjoy stand-up paddle boarding, camping and hiking, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, and watching a good ol’ movie. I consider myself a lifelong learner and I really enjoy trying different types of activities and challenges, both physical and mental!
