Sometimes weekends are meant for relaxing. Taking some personal time off to refresh after a long and stressful workweek is important. While those types of weekends are great and definitely necessary from time to time, there are some really great things that can be done to help others over the weekend that are just as rejuvenating when all is said and done.
Elements Ken Caryl had a great time at the Denver Rock n Roll Half Marathon & Marathon supporting Team in Training. If you have not heard of this awesome new partnership of ours then let us fill you in on the details. Beginning in June of this year and going through May of 2015, Elements Ken Caryl has joined forces with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. This general wellness and exercise program offers athletes high quality coaching and training while raising money for cancer research. The partnership came together because we recognized an excellent opportunity to get involved in a good cause and we were able to offer all Team in Training athletes our membership pricing on all massages as well as a free massage to those that finished the race. On top of that, each runner raised between $2,000 and $5,000 dollars that will go directly towards cancer research and improving the lives of those suffering from cancer as well as their loved ones. The Denver Rock n Roll Half Marathon and Marathon was not even the only event our athletes were represented at over the weekend. We were fortunate enough to also have some runners participate in the Nike Marathon in San Francisco at the same time.
There are so many people in our communities who are affected by cancer either directly as those dealing with an illness or indirectly as family members having to witness and cope with the challenges of a loved one that is in pain. Events and partnerships like these not only bring greater public awareness to the illnesses that our neighbors, family, and friends are suffering from, but they bring greater personal awareness to the way that each and every one of us can use our body to help ourselves while we help others. Elements Ken Caryl believes very strongly in the healing power of touch but we also recognize the even stronger healing power of goodwill and a charitable heart.
