The Movements in Massage

Elements Massage Glendale

As one of the best ways to relax and rejuvenate, massage offers a holistic approach to health and wellness. At the Elements Massage Glendale studio, our team works to deliver therapeutic experiences that can address emotional, physical, and mental aspects of life.

Uniting the unique properties of human touch combined with expert movements and the application of pressure, our massage therapists deliver much-needed benefits. Here’s a bit more about the most common movements employed in massage:

Effleurage
A category of movements most known for long stroking motions that involve the palms of the hands in the direction of your muscle fibers, effleurage evokes soothing and calming sensation while promoting body awareness.

Kneading
One of the most popular movements in massage, kneading involves a manipulation of tissue and skin to address the underlying muscle components. This movement is a great way to address general aches and pains while encouraging release.

Cupping
Comprised of small tapping movements, cupping is employed to restore energy into the body and is most commonly used to remove nervous energy when prepping for a massage.

Pressure
Deep-seated knots can be difficult to get at but applying a steady pressure with the ring finger or thumb can help relieve tension. Oftentimes, this static hold can cause slight discomfort.

These movements are only a handful of the ways we can introduce pressure and presence to your body. Visit our studio to find out more!
