"Lorraine is wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and has the deep tissue pressure for all kinds of preferences." - Renata H.
Lorraine enjoys helping other people through health problems, especially stress-related ones. She specializes in the pain management of migraine, concussion, and cervical tension related to whip lash and other causes. She’s been through intensive training in the Foundations of Oncology Massage, and has helped many of her woman clients through their cancer treatments and reconstructive surgeries.“I’d been having heart palpitations, dizziness, nosebleeds and terrible fatigue for a while, but my regular doctors couldn’t find anything wrong,” she recalls. “Finally, I went to see a Naturopath who diagnosed me with Hypo Adrenal Syndrome. Basically, my adrenal glands were misfiring due to all the stress I’d been under.”
Along with some herbs, the Naturopath suggested she try Yoga. Her husband Henry immediately signed her up for a series of Ashtanga classes at the Y, and within two weeks her symptoms were gone, and her energy was back.
Curious about why Yoga had helped her feel better, Lorraine signed up for Prana Yoga Teacher Training in New York City. For her practical exam, she had to lead a group, including her teacher, through a half-hour class. She’d decided that when her students were resting on the floor in corpse pose, she’d give each one of them a little touch.
“I wanted to show my affection for these people that I’d spent nine months with and would likely never see again, so I set that as an intention before I gave them each a little neck massage,” she says. “Later, as we were passing each other in the gym, my teacher said, ‘You’ve got the touch.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ And he said, ‘I felt love come through your hands.’
“I felt so gratified by that. I paid attention to it.”

In 2005, Lorraine went to India to study and become certified in Ayurvedic Massage, a sister science to Yoga. The knowledge she gained from this ancient medical system makes its way into her massages as well, mainly in the form of Marma Point Therapy, a kind of energy work. In addition, Lorraine is a Reiki II practitioner. And, don’t be surprised if she gives you some Yoga poses as homework.
For many years, Lorraine taught Anatomy and Physiology and Pathology to students training to be massage therapists. Now, outside of Elements, she’s mostly focused on writing the great American novel.
