Foods to Avoid for Health’s Sake

Massage therapy goes hand in hand with living a healthy lifestyle. There are some foods most people know they shouldn’t eat if they’re trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Some of the obvious ones are sugary drinks, junk food, and processed cheese and meats.  The high sugar content and the preservatives are like toxins in your body and make staying healthy and keeping fit more difficult.  Choosing alternatives like water, veggies, or fresh meat and cheese are fairly simple, straightforward changes.  However, there are other foods that you should avoid that may come as more of a surprise. 

 

Foods like white rice, yogurt, and canned soup may not be as good for you as most people think.  A study from the Mayo Clinic published in 2010, found that these foods are also in the top ten things to keep out of your kitchen and out of your diet.  White rice, while better than some more processed grains, is still not the best option.  Choosing brown or wild rice, or even choosing whole wheat or whole barleys, can lower your risk of type 2 diabetes.   Yogurt, unless it’s plain, is loaded with sugars and fats that are not very good for you.  An easy alternative is to choose plain, low-fat yogurt and add your own fresh fruit for some sweetness!  Canned soup, even the low fat and low sodium versions, still have too much salt and cost a lot of money.  Making your own is often less expensive and always healthier!

 

A few quick adjustments in your kitchen habits can make a huge difference in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and keeping yourself and your family on the right track!
