Upon entering Uncle Moustache, a great Lebanese restaurant located up the street from Elements Studio at 702 Bloomfield Avenue, you get the feeling of casualness. My girlfriend and I arrived on a Sunday night with a bottle of wine for an early dinner.
We had the combination Mezze, a tasting of appetizers including Foul, a dish made of fava beans with tomato, parsley and garlic; Labne, a creamy, homemade yogurt; Rahib, grilled eggplant with red bell pepper, cucumber, onion and mint; Babagannouj, grilled eggplant with tahini and garlic, onion, tomato sauce and lemon; and Hummus, chick peas, tahini, lemon juice and seasoning.
For an entrée we shared the oven baked Sun Pitza featuring sundried tomato, fresh mozzarella and fresh basil. Our final indulgence was Baklava, a sweet, buttery, flaky dessert.
We were surprised with the quality of the food, it was fresh and flavorful. We would definitely go back to Uncle Moustache again!
