I am a Colorado Native, but chose to attend massage school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. New Mexico is known mostly for its green chile infused cuisine and Southwestern decor. Who knew they also find therapeutic massage an important part of daily living?
I began training in April 2002 at Universal Therapeutic Massage Institute. I attended night classes while working a full time job. My plate was quite full, but I enjoyed every minute of it! I graduated in December 2002.
Everyone was advised to take the National Exam as soon as possible, so that is what I did. I passed the NCBTMB national exam with high marks in Chinese Medicine.
I jumped right in and worked at a day spa, a tea house and massage studio, started a private practice, and donated chair massages to young motocross riders for Hole Shot and First Place winners. I also rode in an ambulance to comfort one of my favorite riders, after she was injured from a bad landing.
I enjoy helping others, solving problems, and creating solutions. I do all I can to assist in comforting others, creating a peaceful and nurturing environment. I find learning about herbal remedies, preventative nutrition, as well as new massage techniques, important to the health of my practice.
