Bodywork, AKA massage, has been around for thousands of years. Today many of the ancient insights are backed by scientific evidence. Mike believes the power of touch is remarkable, releasing endorphins and hormones that support our wellbeing and reshaping the body/mind. He says that bodywork is becoming commonly integrated into many western medical practices and is gaining more attention each year. Unique to bodywork is the use of tools that can feel and have biofeedback abilities: Hands. To Mike, it is a wonderful place where science and precision meets artist and interpretation. This is not a career he sought, but rather one that has found him!
I spelt and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.
If I am not working with a client, I am often studying, reviewing, and learning more about the mind/body and the power of healing. When I do take a break from my vocation, it is to spend time with his partner and her children, running, hiking a peak, yoga, cycling, swimming, writing, or hanging out with friends. I am currently working on my masters of science in health psychology, and actively learning about nutrition. One of my guilty pleasures is a movie and a large bucket of popcorn…all by myself! Enjoyment and laughter are powerful prescriptions for health. Everything in the Universe is in perpetual motion; where it is stuck becomes a place for illness, poor health, or pain.
