Austin, LMT  |  Specializing in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point & Injury Rehab

Where did you study? Everest Institute, Tigard Campus

When did you graduate? June 2012

What do you like most about massage? The part about massage that I really take to heart is the gratification from helping people. Nothing is more rewarding than relieving clients of pain they may have had their whole lives.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties? Deep Tissue, Trigger Points, Muscular Energy Technique (MET), whiplash injuries.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective? From my experience, these modalities have been most effective in treating chronic and subacute injuries. It seems that most people have been in some sort of high velocity accident with the neck being most affected. My certification in whiplash injuries along with training in MET's has been very effective in treating most head and neck dysfunctions.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself? I know a bit about whiplash injuries from before massage school having been involved in extreme sports since I was five. It can be discouraging and painful getting injured, but the road to recovery doesn't have to last forever. I truly care about my clients and hope to improve their quality of life.

Elena, LMT  |  Specializing in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Stretching and Injury Rehab

Where did you study? Oregon School  of Massage

When did you graduate?  June 2012

What do you like most about massage?  I love having the ability to assist the body in healing and improve a person’s quality of life.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties?  I use a variety of modalities in my massage and tend to change my technique to match my client’s needs whether it be a relaxation or a specific treatment massage.  My favorite modalities include relaxation, deep tissue, trigger point, reflexology, and stretching.  I have experience working at a chiropractor’s office which specializes in motor vehicle accidents; working there has given me a specific view and approach to healing.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective?  I feel it is important to have the ability to change/match the modality/technique to the person's current needs, every person is different from the next, but also every week may be different from the last.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself?   I love the outdoors, hiking, biking, snowboarding, gardening, photography, and spending time with my family.

Jessica, LMT  |  Specializing in Deep Tissue, Relaxation, Trigger Point Therapy

Where did you study?  University of Western States, NE Portland

When did you graduate?  September 2010

What do you like most about massage?  The thing I like most about massage is being able to help people and seeing my clients improve after their sessions.  Knowing I can help people relax and decrease pain in their bodies makes my job very rewarding.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties?  I enjoy Deep Tissue, Relaxation and Trigger Point Therapy.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective?  From my experience I find that when doing Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Therapy, I am most effective and able to  work out knots and tension when my client is relaxed.  My goal for every session is to give a massage that is both those things: relaxing and effective.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself?  When not performing massage I enjoy anything outdoors, as well as gardening.  I love working with flowers and plants and am a huge animal lover!

Katrina, LMT  |  Specializing in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release & Injury Rehab

Where did you study?  East West College of Healing Arts

When did you graduate?  March 2012

What do you like most about massage?  What I find the most rewarding about massage is the ability to help people create change.  From decreasing stress to working with acute and chronic pain, I can help.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties?  Currently in my massage sessions I incorporate Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, and Myofascial Release, with Swedish/Relaxation as a base to tie it all together.  I also have experience as a chiropractic assistant where I utilize my training in Advanced Myofascial Techniques used for treating whiplash.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective?  Each massage modality has its benefits and everyone's needs are different.  While some clients may want/require deep tissue to relieve knots and tension, others may want/require more passive therapy for the same types of issues.  My experience and my ability to communicate with clients allows me to implement the most productive modalities for a client's specific issue/needs.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself?  I have always had a caring and nurturing personality.  My interest in the healing properties of massage and desire to help others provoked my career in massage therapy.  As a lifelong learner with aspiration to share my knowledge, I am excited to thrive in this profession through continued education and gained experience.

Mariam, LMT  |  Specializing in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy & Relaxation

Where did you study?  Brenneke School of Massage in Washington & Everest Institute in Oregon

When did you graduate? Originally in 1987 in Washington & 2012 in Oregon

What do you like most about massage?  I enjoy bringing people back into their bodies. Helping them listen to what their body is telling them about their lives.  Things like posture imbalances, lack of sleep and too much stress can show up in the body and I enjoy helping my clients come back to a place of ease.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties?  Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy and Relaxation.  I really enjoy working on the neck, shoulders, forearms and hands.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective?  Having been a massage therapist for 13 years prior to coming to Oregon, I was able to work in tandem with chiropractors and psychologists to facilitate the healing and health of clients.  I’ve learned that the most effective massage is tailored to each client’s needs by mixing different modalities.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself?  When I’m not working, I enjoy painting, Bollywood movies and live music.

When did you graduate? December 2010

What do you like most about massage? I love being able to help people relax and be in the moment with their massage and mind. I really enjoy that certain aspects of massage are very scientific and technical, while others are free flowing and completely in another realm.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties? CranioSacral Therapy, Relaxation and Swedish Massage. I also love working on the hands, feet, the low back, and the neck and shoulders region.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective? These modalities are the most effective because they bring us back to our bodies. It is a stressful world and getting back to homeostasis and balance so we can heal is key.

Yvonne, LMT  |  Specializing in Trigger Point, Deep Tissue, Oncology Massage, Hot Stone & Prenatal

Where did you study? East West College of the Healing Arts

When did you graduate? September 2005

What do you like most about massage?   I love helping people become more in tune with their bodies by relieving tension, reducing pain, increasing range of motion and overall relaxation.  I like to take the time to focus on the client and their personal needs during a massage, to connect with them and help them feel whole.  Seeing a client after a massage and the relaxation that shines from their face is very rewarding.

What are your favorite modalities / specialties?   I like to incorporate many modalities in each massage including Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Trigger point, Thai and doing stretches.

Why do you feel those modalities / specialties are effective?  I believe every individual is different and can benefit from many different forms of massage.  After speaking with the client at the intake I like to customize the massage to the individual by incorporating Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point and Thai to help them improve their overall well being.

Anything special you'd like to share about yourself?  I enjoy camping, hiking, playing softball and spending time with my family.
